Not long ago, talking with his girlfriend - she works in a company developing software. The staff there is relatively small - as often happens in such cases. We talked about how hard to ensure the loyalty of employees in this segment and how hard it is to motivate.
I have experience in the IT- development and the complexity of working with the programmers I know. I tried for some time to come up with a solution - you know, I love to solve puzzles - but the answer to the question and was not.
And then it dawned on me though. In most cases, we are so carried away by the process that we forget about the result. Of course, a good thing when a company has a system of motivation. The question is whether you have a clear understanding of why this is necessary, and whether the objectives are achieved?.
And incentives - it's just tool to stimulate the desired behavior of employees. In itself it is not worth the effort spent on its development and implementation.
To motivate the system was working, it is necessary to understand exactly what behavior we want to simulate the staff. However, their behavior should be in every way to approach the company to achieve its goals.
Maybe this post will seem primitive to someone. Just want to remind you: the system of employee motivation - it's just a tool. Not a tool defines the purpose. The desired result determines the necessary tools.
